Widespread Explosions in Southern Syria Leave 100 Dead Over Three Days
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News agency and Russia Al-Youm, armed confrontations persist across four fronts in suwayda province, southern Syria, including al-Thaleh Airport, for the third straight day.
Local media sources reported intense fighting last night between Druze forces and tribes allied with the terrorist group led by al-Jolani at al-Thaleh Airport.
The main conflict zones include al-Thaleh, Hazm, Kanakir, and Ta’ara. Reports indicated that until a few hours ago, gunfire and widespread explosions echoed throughout western Suwayda.
Forces affiliated with al-Jolani’s regime launched attacks from two primary axes: Basr al-harir-Ta’ara and Umm Walad-Kanakir.Though, they faced strong resistance from local residents defending their areas.
It has been reported that homes in attacked villages were looted and set ablaze.
The syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that these clashes-ongoing as Sunday morning-have so far claimed 100 lives.
Earlier, Sheikh Hikmat Al-Hajri, the spiritual leader of Syria’s Druze community, reiterated his urgent call for swift international support due to the critical situation in Druze areas amid ongoing battles.
Al-Hajri said: “We oppose the entry of Public Security forces and Hay’at tahrir al-Sham into Suwayda. They crossed into this province’s administrative borders last night under the pretext of protecting people but bombarded our villagers. The Public Security forces and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham are extremist groups backed by heavy weaponry and drones.”
