Armed Attacks Continue in Southern Syria; Civilians Flee Conflict Zones
A local source told Al Mayadeen that the center of Suwayda city in southern Syria is under mortar and missile attacks, according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency.
The source added that these attacks are carried out by forces affiliated with the Ministry of Defence of the terrorist regime led by Al-Julani.
Residents in neighborhoods experiencing these armed clashes have evacuated their homes and moved toward eastern Suwayda.Civilians are reportedly deeply frightened.
Earlier, Sheikh Hikmat al-Hajri, the spiritual leader of Syrian Druze, repeated his calls for urgent international support due to the dangerous situation in Druze areas amid ongoing clashes.
Al-Hajri stated: ”We oppose the entry of Public Security Forces and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham into Suwayda. They crossed into this province’s administrative borders last night under the pretext of protecting people but bombarded our villagers. Public Security Forces and Hay’at tahrir al-sham supported takfiri groups with heavy weapons and drones.”
The Druze spiritual leader stressed: “We hold Damascus fully responsible for allowing Public Security forces to enter and all those involved in violations against our regions and people. We emphasize our call for immediate international support to halt bloodshed among our people across all parts of Syria.”
It is worth noting that clashes between Druze groups and Al-Julani’s forces have resulted in dozens dead or wounded across Suwayda province in southern Syria.
