Haaretz Reveals Dangerous Rise in Suicide Rates Within Israeli Military
according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported a notable increase in the number of suicides among soldiers during their military service compared to previous years.
The paper states that at least 15 Israeli soldiers have committed suicide since the beginning of 2025, half of which has already passed. In comparison,21 soldiers took their own lives throughout 2024.
Haaretz adds that most of these soldiers belong to Israel’s reserve forces currently engaged in combat in Gaza.
The newspaper quotes Israeli military sources saying that many soldiers who commit suicide face intense psychological strain caused by wartime conditions and situations.
Media sources report that within less than ten days, three Israeli soldiers involved in the Gaza conflict have taken their own lives.
Most recently, on Monday, an Israeli soldier from the Nahal Brigade committed suicide at a military base on the Golan Heights. He had served more than a year in the Gaza war.
At Teyman Base in the negev Desert, another soldier from the Golani Brigade also died by suicide.
Israeli media sources reveal that at least 44 IDF soldiers have killed themselves since the start of fighting in Gaza due to psychological pressures stemming from war conditions.
This surge occurs amid rising casualties faced by Israel’s army as resistance operations intensify. Several soldiers reportedly refuse to return to combat duty in gaza; some have been imprisoned for insubordination against orders from superiors.
