Moscow: Trump’s Recent Statements Are Serious and Need Time for Analysis
Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesman, described Washington and NATO’s decision to send more weapons to ukraine as a sign of intent to prolong the war, according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and RT.
Peskov said Kyiv views decisions made in Washington and NATO not as steps toward peace but rather signs that the war will continue.
Regarding recent remarks by former US President Donald Trump, Peskov added that these statements are very serious and that the Kremlin needs time for analysis and evaluation.
The Financial Times and The Washington post cited informed sources claiming that in a private conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Trump encouraged him to attack Moscow and Saint Petersburg. The conversation reportedly included Trump asking whether Zelenskyy could strike Moscow if provided with long-range weapons by the US.
In response, a Russian diplomat stated such reports are generally fake but sometimes turn out to be serious.
Yesterday, Trump announced that Washington will continue supplying weapons and military equipment to Ukraine as long as Europe pays for it. He added that NATO would coordinate the effort. Furthermore, if Russia does not reach a peace agreement with Ukraine within 50 days, the US will impose 100% tariffs on Moscow and its trade partners.
