Lavrov: European Union Seeks to Push US Toward Anti-Russian Sanctions
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and RIA novosti, Russian Foreign minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday that moscow seeks clarity regarding former President Trump’s statement about a 50-day deadline to resolve the Ukraine crisis.
Lavrov added that Trump faces critically important pressure from the European Union, which urges him to supply weapons to Ukraine. The EU is also striving to steer the United States toward imposing new anti-Russian sanctions. However, he warned that those behind this sanction war will bear losses. “We can handle these sanctions; I do not believe our partners will abandon their trade commitments,” Lavrov stated.
He further noted that it cannot be said no progress was made during talks in Istanbul. Kyiv’s claim that negotiations in Istanbul are over reflects Ukraine’s unwillingness to negotiate. Moscow believes this phase has not yet concluded.
