White House Confirms Trump-Zelensky Talks on Attack Against Russia
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and BBC, reported that white House spokesperson Caroline Leavitt addressed the Financial Times article claiming President Trump questioned his Ukrainian counterpart about attacking Moscow.She clarified that the president merely asked a question and did not encourage further bloodshed.
The spokesperson asserted that Trump is working toward stopping the violence and ending the war.
She added that the Financial Times report “largely took this issue out of context.”
Earlier, Financial Times reported that former U.S. President Donald Trump privately urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky too increase strikes inside Russian territory. The report stated Trump directly asked whether Kyiv could target Moscow and Saint Petersburg if provided with suitable weapons.
According to two sources familiar with their conversation, during a phone call on July 4, trump asked Zelensky: “Volodymyr, can you hit Moscow? … Can you also hit Saint Petersburg?” Zelensky replied: “Definitely. If you give us weapons, we can do it.”
