Suwayda: From New Zionist Attacks to Anti-Israeli Statements by Druze Leader
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Syrian news agency SANA reported that Sheikh Youssef Jarboua, head of Syria’s Druze clan, said their current reliance is on the Syrian government, which supports all citizens of the country.
SANA quoted Jarboua as saying that residents of Sweida stand with the government and hold national loyalties. They do not tolerate any foreign affiliations.
This comes as Israel claims to support Syrian Druze amid recent clashes in Sweida city.
Israel’s Channel 12 announced that its army has returned most Druze civilians who crossed from occupied golan Heights into Syrian territory and were moving deeper into Syria.
The report cited a U.S. official who said Washington has urged Israel to halt its strikes against Syrian military forces in southern Syria.
Meanwhile, Syria’s Ministry of Interior confirmed Israeli assaults targeting security and military positions inside Syria, resulting in casualties among their personnel.
The ministry statement said Israeli occupiers carry out airstrikes supporting illegal opposition groups operating in Sweida.
The statement emphasized that clashes continue in parts of Sweida while security forces work to regain full control over the city.
