U.S. Copies Iran’s Shahed Drone Design
According to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Mehr News Agency adn the American website Defense Blog, the United States is working to expand its air force capabilities by unveiling a low-cost combat drone named Lucas, which seems to have been copied from IranS Shahed drone.
The launch took place yesterday, wednesday, at the pentagon grounds with U.S.Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth present. The drone was developed by Spectre Works, based in Arizona.
Lucas can operate either as a target drone or as an armed system. It features multiple launch options, including missile-assisted firing and deployment from trucks, making it suitable for rapid operations by non-specialist personnel.
The report adds that Lucas’s unveiling comes amid growing interest in affordable and reusable drones.Iran’s Shahed drones have attracted global attention due to their use in Ukraine and the Middle East. This has prompted U.S. defense planners to produce copies within their military industries.
The military company emphasized that Lucas has been successfully tested and is ready for production. It could soon join U.S. aerial squadrons.
