China Opposes Unilateral Sanctions Lacking Basis in International Law

China’s ⁢Foreign Ministry spokesman stated that Beijing has always firmly opposed unilateral sanctions that lack‍ any basis in international law.

According to the English section of webangah⁢ News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and RIA Novosti, Chinese Foreign ⁤Ministry ⁢spokesman Liu⁤ Jian on Friday‍ condemned the European Union’s ‌unilateral sanctions‌ against Russia.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman said ‌regarding the EU’s new sanctions package against Russia: “Beijing has always firmly opposed unilateral⁢ sanctions that⁣ have no foundation in international law.”

Liu‌ Jian added that China urges⁢ the ​EU ⁢to cease actions that violate the interests⁢ of Chinese companies.

The EU’s foreign ⁢policy chief previously announced that representatives ​agreed on an eighteenth sanctions package targeting Russia, which includes banking restrictions.

Russian‌ news agency⁣ Sputnik​ reported that the ‌EU agreed⁢ on its eighteenth sanctions package against Russia, imposing limits on banks.The new measures will also cover 105 vessels involved‌ with Russian oil and set‌ a price‍ cap of approximately ‌$47.60 per barrel ⁤for⁢ Russian oil exports.
