China Opposes Unilateral Sanctions Lacking Basis in International Law
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and RIA Novosti, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jian on Friday condemned the European Union’s unilateral sanctions against Russia.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman said regarding the EU’s new sanctions package against Russia: “Beijing has always firmly opposed unilateral sanctions that have no foundation in international law.”
Liu Jian added that China urges the EU to cease actions that violate the interests of Chinese companies.
The EU’s foreign policy chief previously announced that representatives agreed on an eighteenth sanctions package targeting Russia, which includes banking restrictions.
Russian news agency Sputnik reported that the EU agreed on its eighteenth sanctions package against Russia, imposing limits on banks.The new measures will also cover 105 vessels involved with Russian oil and set a price cap of approximately $47.60 per barrel for Russian oil exports.
