Joulani Leaves Damascus; Syrian Defense Minister Assassinated
Al-Mayadeen TV, citing informed sources, reported that Ahmed Al-Shara, head of the ruling regime in Syria, has left Damascus with his family, and three senior members of his government-including the assassinated defense minister-have been targeted.
The English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency and Al-Mayadeen, stated that Ahmed Al-Shara, head of the Syrian transitional government, has departed Damascus with his family.
Sources confirmed that three senior officials of the Syrian interim government were assassinated, among them Defense Minister Marhaf Abu Qasra.
They added that a military brigade unexpectedly entered the headquarters of Damascus radio and Television to oversee its operations.
An Al-Mayadeen correspondent reported that following a powerful explosion shaking Damascus and closing Umayyad Square for over three hours, these events unfolded as Israeli fighter jets flew over the city’s skies.
