Sullivan: Attack on Iran’s Nuclear Facilities Was Unnecessary

Former ⁢U.S. national Security Advisor says the ⁤country’s attack⁢ on Iran’s nuclear facilities was unnecessary.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, ⁢citing ⁣Mehr News Agency⁤ and Jewish⁤ Insider, Jake Sullivan, former National Security Advisor ⁣to the U.S.president,⁣ stated that the Trump‌ administration did not ‍need to pursue a military strike against Iran.

Sullivan said: “There ‍was no need⁢ for the Trump administration to adopt⁢ an approach involving an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.”

He added: “A weakened and vulnerable Iran was ready for a very good deal that⁢ would have constrained their program for decades rather than just delay it by a⁤ few years.”

The former White House security ⁣advisor emphasized ⁢that Washington still needs negotiations with the‌ Islamic Republic ‌of⁢ Iran.He stressed: “In my view, this is what ⁣Trump will also seek as I ‍beleive⁢ diplomacy is the only way ‍to permanently end Iran’s nuclear ⁣threat.”

Sullivan previously told CNN about his initial reaction to Trump’s decision to ⁤use military force against ‍Iran: “My primary response is the question ⁢often asked⁢ in foreign policy-what happens next? After American pilots carry out ‍this operation skillfully and effectively,⁢ we still need a deal ⁤because it seems Iran continues to have enriched ‌uranium stocks and centrifuge capacity-even if installed centrifuges were destroyed or damaged, which no one really knows. They ‍still have the capability ⁢to rebuild their program.”

He also ‌noted: “Moreover, ‍Iran currently does not allow International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors‍ access to any of these sites. Consequently, we no longer have ⁤verification mechanisms like those previously available under a nuclear ⁤agreement.”
