Moscow Withdraws from Military Cooperation Agreement with Berlin
According to the English section of webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Kyiv Independent, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced Moscow’s official exit from the military-technical cooperation agreement with Berlin by signing a decree.
The agreement contained eight provisions, including collaboration between Russia and Germany in defense industries, coordination between their defense ministries, establishment of a joint commission for military cooperation, protection of shared military secrets, and a mutual commitment not to sell jointly produced weapons to third countries.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that this agreement “no longer aligns with the current state of relations between Russia and Germany.”
Moscow attributed its withdrawal to “Berlin’s hostile policies” and “the German government’s military ambitions.” Mishustin ordered the foreign Ministry to officially inform the German side of this decision.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that under an agreement with NATO, the United States sold weapons needed by Ukraine to the alliance, which would then deliver them to Kyiv. Following this decision, the first shipment of Patriot air defense systems was sent from Germany to Ukraine.
Despite opposing long-range missile deliveries to Ukraine, Germany has consistently expressed support during Ukraine’s more then three years of conflict with Russia by providing arms and military assistance.
