Baath Party’s Plot to Incite Unrest in Iraq Foiled
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al-Maalomah, iraq’s National Security Service announced it thwarted activities by Ba’ath Party affiliates in three provinces. A statement from the service said that following intelligence operations, individuals linked to the former Iraqi regime were identified and their movements monitored.
these elements sought to promote the ideology of Iraq’s former regime and the dissolved Ba’ath Party while attempting to provoke citizens against the current government. Additionally, a group known as Brigade 66, directed from outside iraq, has been tasked with spreading this ideology through online platforms.
At least 40 suspects have been arrested during this security operation. Some detainees confessed to receiving financial support from fugitive operatives abroad.
A security source in Anbar province previously reported that Popular Mobilization Forces apprehended a key Ba’ath Party leader attempting to establish an underground cell affiliated with the party in northern Fallujah.
