Sudan Restricts WhatsApp to Protect National Security
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and al Jazeera, reported that the Sudanese government has decided to limit voice and video call features on WhatsApp as part of measures to safeguard national security. These restrictions will take effect next Friday.
The Communications and Postal Services sector of the Sudanese government said in a statement that some voice and video dialog restrictions via WhatsApp would be implemented in Sudan to protect vital national interests and ensure security.
The official Sudanese news agency stated these limitations will begin on Friday, July 25, until further notice.
The Communications Regulation sector added that other features such as text messaging and group sharing would remain active.The statement apologized for any inconvenience caused by these restrictions and expressed gratitude to users for prioritizing collective interests over personal convenience.
