China Strongly Condemns European Union Sanctions
The spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce, responding to the EU’s inclusion of Beijing-based companies and financial entities in its eighteenth sanctions package against Russia, stated that China will not leave this move unanswered, according to webangah News Agency.
The Chinese official pointed out that the EU has ignored China’s multiple complaints and protests by unilaterally adding Chinese companies to its sanctions list and imposing penalties on two financial institutions in Beijing based on unfounded accusations.
He emphasized that China has consistently opposed unilateral sanctions lacking international legitimacy and without approval from the United Nations Security Council.
According to the spokesperson, the EU’s actions contradict consensus reached between Chinese and EU leaders. These measures will severely affect economic, trade, and financial cooperation between China and Brussels.
The Ministry of Commerce spokesperson added that Beijing urges the European Union to immediately halt its wrongful practice of including Chinese companies and financial institutions on its sanctions list. To firmly protect the legitimate rights and interests of these entities, China will take necessary measures.
