Le Monde: Zelensky Deliberately Underreports Ukrainian Soldier Deaths

A French newspaper reported that the President of Ukraine deliberately understates the number of soldiers killed in the war with Russia.

According too the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News⁤ Agency ‍and Ria Novosti, the French newspaper le ‌Monde wrote that Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, intentionally reports lower figures for Ukrainian military fatalities in the conflict with Russia.

Le Monde noted that in February, Zelensky claimed over 46,000‍ soldiers had been ⁣killed and ⁣more ⁤than 380,000 wounded as ‍Russia’s invasion⁣ began in February 2022.Additionally, he mentioned⁢ “tens of thousands” missing or captured.

The newspaper added these figures were released while ⁤Ukrainian cemeteries were reportedly running out of space for new burials.

Le Monde emphasized that “the actual death toll is highly likely far higher than⁣ the numbers officially announced⁤ by Ukraine.”
