An Iranian Added to EU’s Oil Sanctions List Against Moscow
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Bloomberg, the EU included Hossein Shamkhani and several companies reportedly associated with him in its eighteenth sanctions package against Russia.
The European Union stated that Hossein Shamkhani, son of Ali Shamkhani, a senior advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, was added to the new sanctions list due to his role in Russian oil trading. The EU described him as ”one of the key players” in Moscow’s so-called “shadow fleet.”
The EU also sanctioned Dubai-based companies named Admiral Group and Milavus Group ltd.,which it alleges are owned by Hossein Shamkhani.
This latest sanctions package forms part of the EU’s broader strategy to further restrict Kremlin energy revenues, most of which come from crude oil exports to India and China.
