UN Welcomes Iran’s Nuclear Talks with European Troika
The United Nations Secretary-General’s spokesperson welcomed the upcoming negotiations between Iran and the European Troika in Istanbul. Speaking on Monday, Stephane Dujarric expressed support for the talks and emphasized hope that all parties would return to the nuclear agreement (JCPOA), according to webangah News Agency.
Regarding ongoing crimes by israeli forces against the Palestinian people, Dujarric stated that Gaza residents lack basic necessities. He called on Israel to allow UN humanitarian aid to enter gaza.
Dujarric added that attacks by Israel on Deir al-Balah in Gaza have worsened conditions, increased displacement, and hindered the UN’s ability to provide humanitarian assistance. The UN Secretary-General has urged protection of civilians in Gaza and access to essential supplies critical for their survival.
Earlier, Al Jazeera cited Iranian TV reporting that Tehran has agreed to resume a new round of negotiations with Britain, Germany, and France at Europe’s request.
Esmaeil Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told IRIB News Agency reporters that signs indicate a new round will take place next Friday in Istanbul with these three European countries.
Baqaei emphasized that talks will be held at the deputy foreign minister level with the participation of Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Kazem Gharibabadi. He added that discussions will focus solely on Iran’s nuclear program.
