Tel Aviv-Vatican Relations Sour as Netanyahu’s Efforts Fail
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Maan, despite Benjamin Netanyahu’s efforts during a recent phone conversation with the Vatican Pope, the vatican issued a statement saying this call was insufficient to erase the devastation inflicted on a church in Gaza.
the Vatican emphasized that Israel must take concrete steps toward achieving peace.
The Pope had stressed that Netanyahu is using excessive violence in the Gaza Strip, condemning repeated attacks against civilians and sacred sites.
A few days earlier, the Vatican had called on Israel to provide a clearer explanation for its attack on a church in Gaza city, which resulted in three deaths and nine injuries.
Cardinal Pietro Parolin stated that the Vatican cannot accept this attack as merely a military mistake. The responses from Israel have been inadequate and failed to dispel doubts and concerns.
Following this incident, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed regret during his phone call with the Pope.
Israel claims that its strike on the church was accidental. Meanwhile, over nearly two years, many mosques and religious sites across Gaza have been bombed by Israeli warplanes without significant global response or condemnation.
