Axios: US Mediates Syria-Israel Talks
According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Mehr News Agency,Axios announced that talks between representatives of Syria’s interim government and the Israeli regime are scheduled for Thursday.
Axios stated that these negotiations will occur in the presence of officials from both Syria’s interim authorities and Israel.
The talks will be chaired by Tom barrack, the US special envoy for Syrian affairs.
A senior Israeli official told Axios that while a relative calm currently prevails, essential issues will not be resolved without a extensive agreement between the United States, Israel, and Syria.
White House spokesperson Caroline Lewitt claimed on Monday that President Donald Trump was dissatisfied with last week’s Israeli airstrikes against Syria. She added that Trump has asked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “calm things down.”
Earlier, a White House official told Axios, “Bibi acted like a lunatic. He bombs everywhere all day long. This behavior risks undermining what Trump is trying to achieve.”
Another senior American official referenced last week’s bombing of a church in Gaza Strip which prompted Trump’s call to Netanyahu seeking an description. Quoting Trump: “It seems like we must expect something new every day. What are you doing?”
An additional White House source noted growing doubts about Netanyahu within the Trump administration. The sentiment is that his finger on the trigger is too restless and he causes excessive disruption. “Netanyahu sometimes acts like an ill-mannered child,” they said.
