Rubio and Al-Sudani Discuss Iraq’s Energy Infrastructure in Phone Call
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency via Sky News, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke by phone with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani. Rubio emphasized the importance of prosecuting those responsible for recent attacks on Iraq’s energy infrastructure and urged necessary measures to prevent their recurrence.
Tami Bruce, spokesperson for the US Department of State, confirmed that during the call Rubio reaffirmed his country’s support for Iraq’s security and stability. He stated that the United States stands with the Iraqi government in addressing security challenges, especially threats against critical facilities and the energy sector.
The phone conversation followed a series of anonymous attacks targeting iraq’s energy centers over recent weeks. These incidents have raised domestic and international concerns about renewed security tensions that could impact Iraq’s economy and reconstruction efforts.
