Venezuelan Migrants Tortured in El Salvador’s Maximum Security Prison
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Arabiya, Venezuela has declared it is launching an official inquiry into the torture of 252 Venezuelan migrants transferred from the United States to a prison in El Salvador.
Authorities emphasized that these migrants were subjected to physical and sexual abuse as well as being forced to consume spoiled food while detained in the prison.
Attorney General William presented images and evidence related to the migrants’ torture during a press conference in Caracas. The photos clearly showed signs of beatings on their bodies.
The individuals returned to caracas last Friday on two flights after spending a month detained at the El Salvador facility.
