Key Topics in Lavrov’s Talks with Acting Afghan Foreign Minister
According too the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and RIA Novosti, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, held a phone conversation with Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting foreign minister of Afghanistan.
During the call, both sides emphasized their mutual interest in enhancing cooperation between the two countries in trade, economic, and humanitarian fields. They also highlighted collaboration on regional security issues, including counterterrorism and combating drug trafficking.
Earlier on July 3rd, Russia accepted the credentials of Afghanistan’s new ambassador.This move made russia the first country to officially recognize the Taliban government.
