EU and Japan Condemn Deteriorating Situation in the West Bank
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr news Agency and anadolu Agency, Japan and the European Union today, Wednesday, issued a joint statement emphasizing the need for an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza. They also strongly condemned the escalating tensions in the West Bank.
The statement was released following a meeting in Tokyo between Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, European Council President António Costa, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The joint declaration expressed dissatisfaction with provocative actions by Israeli occupational forces against the Palestinian people but adopted a solely verbal stance.
The statement reads: Japan and the European Union are committed to advancing peace and regional stability in the Middle East (West Asia). Both parties called for uninterrupted humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza.
However, until now neither Japan nor the EU has taken any concrete action to alleviate the suffering of Gaza’s people amid ongoing crimes by Israel’s regime, relying instead on issuing verbal statements.
