Reuters: Brazil Joins South Africa’s Case Against Israel
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr News Agency, a informed source told Reuters on Wednesday that Brazil intends to file a request to join South africa’s genocide case against the Israeli regime’s crimes in gaza at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
Reuters reported that South Africa filed its case in 2023,asking the ICJ to declare that the Israeli occupiers have violated their obligations under the 1948 Genocide Convention. Other countries including Chile, Egypt, Cuba, Spain, Turkey, Ireland, Colombia and others had previously requested to join this case at The Hague.
The South African legal team submitted a nearly 5,000-page document to the UN’s highest court as part of its latest step accusing Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
According to a statement from Cyril Ramaphosa, President of South Africa, this document- which will not be made public by the ICJ until further proceedings-sets forth the “main case” alleging Israel has a “specific intent” to commit genocide.
