Hamas Submits Its Response to Ceasefire Plan to Mediators
According to the English section of webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Qatar’s Al Jazeera network, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance movement (Hamas) announced that it has just delivered its official reply, along with responses from other Palestinian groups, to mediators regarding the proposed ceasefire.
Hamas has not disclosed any details or contents of this response.
Earlier, Israel’s Reshet Bet radio reported that hamas requested reopening the Rafah crossing as part of ongoing talks on prisoner exchange.
Palestinian sources suggest that Israel may agree to this request.
The sources added that Hamas’s demand is viewed as a symbolic yet nationalist rebuttal to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s migration plan.
It remains unclear which individuals Hamas intends to allow back into Gaza through Rafah-whether senior leaders or prominent activists will be included is unknown.
If accepted, this would mark the first time since the war began that Palestinians could enter Gaza via Rafah crossing.
This development might signal a de-escalation along the “Philadelphia” axis toward Gaza’s interior, although Israeli forces remain deployed in that area.
Separately, Channel 10 of Israeli television previously reported that mediators have presented a proposal concerning the number of palestinian prisoners eligible for exchange.
A knowledgeable Palestinian source told Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation (KAN) that Hamas is reviewing a revised version of Tel Aviv’s offer, which includes greater versatility and wider Israeli withdrawal from Gaza sectors.
Reports also indicate mediators presented Hamas with maps Wednesday night showing limited Israeli troop presence at Rafah and an IDF pullback from the Morag front line sector.
However, according to this source,it remains uncertain whether these proposals will fully satisfy Hamas enough for acceptance.
