Secret Meeting Between Al-Julani Regime and Israeli Regime Officials Mediated by the United States
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, the American news outlet Axios has revealed that discussions took place between senior officials from the Al-Jolani regime and Israel in Paris, facilitated by Washington.
Tom Barrett, U.S. Ambassador to Turkey and Special Envoy for Syria Affairs, stated that the meeting aimed to reduce tensions and initiate dialog between both parties.
Barrett said: “Tonight I met with Syrian and Israeli officials in Paris. Our goal for this meeting was to create space for dialogue and de-escalate tensions. Fortunately, all sides emphasized continuing along this path.”
Barrett’s claims regarding Hezbollah in Lebanon
In another part of his remarks concerning Hezbollah, Barrett asserted that Lebanese people must decide on resolving issues related to the group themselves.
The U.S. Special Envoy for Syria Affairs highlighted America’s consistent policy on this matter, stressing that if Lebanon’s government takes steps toward monopolizing armed forces exclusively under its military control-recognizing it as the sole legitimate armed force-Washington is fully prepared to support Beirut.
Barrett also referred to the position of the U.S. Department of State, noting that as Secretary of State Marco Rubio has emphasized, Washington seeks to help establish a strong Lebanese government capable of resisting Hezbollah and disarming it.
he again falsely accused hezbollah by asserting that his country makes no distinction between Hezbollah’s political and military wings; Washington regards Hezbollah in its entirety as a foreign terrorist institution.
Barrett went on to underscore that from Washington’s viewpoint, only Lebanon’s national army is a legitimate military force. He described it as a key pillar of sovereignty and vital for securing a stable and prosperous future for Lebanon.
The envoy intervened further into Lebanon’s internal affairs by claiming: “It is indeed now time for Lebanese political and military leaders to demonstrate their resolve and political will toward achieving a future free from Hezbollah’s domination,” echoing President Joe Biden’s stance on this issue.
Pretending humanitarian concern for regional countries, he claimed his nation stands beside the people of Lebanon throughout this process.
