Colombian President Takes Anti-Zionist Stand

Colombian president takes an ⁣anti-Zionist stance, ordering the navy to block coal‍ shipments to the occupied territories.

According to the English section of webangah News ‍Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Mayadeen,Colombian President‍ Gustavo Petro announced that,as commander-in-chief of the ‌armed forces,he has ordered the seizure of⁣ any‍ ship carrying coal‌ destined for Israel.

He emphasized that Colombia will not cooperate or‍ collude with what ‍he described as‍ the Zionist regime’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

Yesterday,‌ President Petro also issued a clear warning to multinational company Glencore. He declared that if glencore continues sending coal ‌to Israel, Colombia⁢ will unilaterally modify‍ its contract with the company.

Reporting ⁤for Reuters during a regional meeting within the Community of ⁤Latin American and Caribbean‌ States‍ (CELAC), Petro stated that if⁤ Glencore refuses to comply with government orders halting exports ⁢to ⁢Israel, he would call on local communities near the La Guajira coal mine to ⁣block export routes.

“If ‍necessary, we will amend the ‌contract,” he asserted.

the Cerrejón mine operated by Glencore is ⁢one of the ⁣world’s largest open-pit coal mines. It⁢ produced approximately 19 ⁣million tons of‌ coal last year.

In response to this threat, Glencore said it had already stopped exporting coal to Israel before receiving ⁣an official order from President Petro and is currently complying with his directive. However, some media have reported ⁢that other Colombian companies such as Drummond continue exporting coal to Israel.
