European Troika Reiterates Hostile Stance Against Iran
According to the English section of webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the UK government website, UK Prime minister Keir Starmer held phone calls today with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. During these calls, he repeated the European troika’s hostile positions toward Iran.
The statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said: “Regarding Iran’s nuclear program, the leaders of these three countries agreed that if Iran does not cooperate with the International Atomic energy agency and returns to diplomacy, sanctions will be reimposed at the end of August.”
The statement added that the leaders agreed to maintain close contact with each other.
This comes while the Islamic Republic of Iran was engaged in indirect negotiations with the United States in Muscat. Though, these talks were halted following an attack by both Washington and Israel-actions contrary to UN charters and international conventions.
