Malaysia: No Need for U.S. Mediation Between Thailand and Cambodia
according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and ria Novosti, Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Mohamad Hassan confirmed today, Sunday, that Thailand and Cambodia will meet in Malaysia.
He added that there is no need for US mediation in this matter.
The Malaysian official continued: “I am waiting for a call from Antony Blinken [US Secretary of State], as they want to know how they can assist; though, Malaysia must mediate first. This is an ASEAN issue,and as chair nation,we must lead on this.”
According to Ria Novosti, Thailand and Cambodia will hold talks tomorrow, Monday, july 28, in Malaysia aimed at ending the conflicts.
Mohamad Hassan further noted that Malaysia is hosting the negotiations where senior officials from both countries will meet directly on Malaysian soil.
