Russian Army Captures New Areas in Donetsk
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Sputnik, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its military has freed new areas.
The ministry’s statement reported that the Russian army captured the settlements of Boikivka and Belhyka in Donetsk.
It also confirmed the deaths of 250 Ukrainian soldiers at the hands of Russia’s Western Front forces, 395 by central army units, 165 in operational zones within Sumy and Kharkiv provinces, and 205 killed by Eastern Front troops.
additionally, 55 Ukrainian soldiers were reportedly killed during Russian attacks near Dnipro.
It should be noted that on February 21, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics in Donbas amid criticism over Western disregard for Moscow’s security concerns.
Three days later, on February 24, Putin launched what he called a “special military operation” against Ukraine. This escalated already tense Moscow-Kyiv relations into open military confrontation.
The United States and Western countries have responded with extensive sanctions against Moscow and sent billions of dollars worth of weapons and military equipment to Kyiv.
