U.S. Government Outraged by Israeli Minister’s Public Statements Against Gaza
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Maan, informed sources told the Israeli newspaper HaYom that remarks by Amichai Eliyahu, Israel’s Minister of Cultural Heritage, regarding the necessity to destroy and erase Gaza have provoked anger within the U.S.government.
Though, it is indeed vital to note that Washington’s frustration is not about the content of these remarks per se but rather its preference for such hawkish stances not to be publicly declared.
The sources added that Israel’s ambassador in Washington contacted eliyahu seeking clarification over his comments.
A few days earlier, Eliyahu had stated that the Tel Aviv cabinet was moving toward the destruction of Gaza and insisted that the entire region should be settled by Israelis.
