Netanyahu Unveils New Plan to Occupy Gaza
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al-Nashra, the Israeli website Walla reported that Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s Prime Minister, introduced a new approach for operations in Gaza at a security cabinet meeting in Tel Aviv.
Earlier, Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that Netanyahu plans to present a proposal to the small political and security cabinet involving the gradual annexation of parts of the Gaza Strip. According to this plan, Netanyahu aims to retain Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich-who threatened to leave the cabinet if an agreement with Hamas is reached-and thus prevent its collapse.
Haaretz also states that this plan gives Hamas several days to agree on a ceasefire deal. If Hamas rejects it, Israel will gradually begin occupying and annexing areas of Gaza into its territory.
