Trump: I Have No Interest in Visiting China Unless Invited by Xi
According too the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that even though he is not actively seeking a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping,he might travel to Beijing if formally invited.
On his social media platform “Truth Social,” Trump saeid: “I might go to China, but only if invited by Xi (the Chinese president), and this invitation has been extended. Otherwise, I am not interested!”
Earlier, Reuters reported that advisors for Trump and Xi had discussed a possible meeting between the two presidents during trump’s planned trip to Asia later this year.
If the trip proceeds, it would mark the first face-to-face meeting between Trump and Xi as Trump’s return to office, amid ongoing high tensions in trade and security between the two superpowers.
Sources say while no final plans have been made for this potential meeting, discussions on both sides of the Pacific suggest Trump coudl stop in China around the time of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in South Korea or meet with Xi on its sidelines.
