King of Jordan Warns of Risk of Escalating Major Regional Conflict
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, King Abdullah II of Jordan stated that Israel’s war against Gaza must end. He described the humanitarian disaster as reaching an indescribable level.
The king added that aid efforts in Gaza should not be politicized. Humanitarian assistance cannot be turned into a political issue regarding the people of Gaza.
King Abdullah emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza and respect for international law. He said the suffering of Gaza’s residents should prompt immediate action from the international community. He called for unrestricted entry of aid into Gaza and pledged continued efforts to deliver assistance by any means necessary.
The king also warned that the dangerously escalating situation in the West Bank must stop,noting there is a real risk of a wider regional conflict erupting.
Regarding Syria, King Abdullah reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing that stability in Syria is crucial for regional security.
He concluded by reiterating Jordan’s call to end the war and prevent further displacement of Palestinians from both Gaza and the West Bank. While air delivery is not ideal for humanitarian aid to Gaza, it remains an option until aid flows thru crossings can resume.
