Egyptian Foreign Minister Holds Talks with Russian Official
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing al-Youm Al-Sabea, Egypt’s Foreign Minister badr Abdelatty and Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin met in New York to discuss the situation in Gaza and bilateral relations.
The meeting took place during their attendance at the International Conference on the Peaceful Resolution of the Palestinian Conflict and Implementation of a Two-State Solution in New York.
Abdelatty praised Egypt-Russia cooperation on several strategic projects, especially the El Dabaa nuclear power plant and the Russian industrial zone within Egypt’s Suez canal Economic Zone. He emphasized Cairo’s expectation for increased Russian investment through this industrial zone.
The two officials also discussed tourism. Abdelatty highlighted the steady rise in flights between their countries and expressed hope that Russian tourist visits to Egypt would continue growing.
The two sides exchanged views on developments in Gaza. abdelatty outlined Egypt’s position advocating for a ceasefire in Gaza and for delivering humanitarian aid to the area.
They also talked about Egypt’s efforts to host an international conference for Gaza’s reconstruction instantly after a ceasefire is achieved.
Additionally, Abdelatty and Vershinin reviewed Syria’s situation.The Egyptian foreign minister condemned Israeli violations against Syrian territory, stressing the importance of Israeli withdrawal from all occupied Syrian lands since 1967, including the Golan Heights, while respecting Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
