U.S. Opposes So-Called Two-State Conference in New York
According to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Mayadeen network, the U.S. department of State announced it will not participate in the United Nations meeting titled “Two-State Solution” and strongly opposes its content.
The department stated that the Trump management and Secretary of State have plans for Gaza’s future but added that no progress can be made toward these new ideas while fighting continues.
In response to Britain and France’s efforts to recognize Palestine, U.S. President Donald trump said, “If they want to do that, it can be seen as encouraging Hamas. I am not one of those people who would accept that.”
Trump added, “Macron and Starmer are saying almost the same thing, but that doesn’t mean I have to agree with them.”
This statement comes shortly after French President Emmanuel Macron announced he will formally recognize an self-reliant Palestinian state during the United Nations General Assembly session in New York this September.
Additionally, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is holding an emergency cabinet meeting today to discuss Gaza’s situation and propose a peace plan.
Reuters claimed Starmer faces growing pressure within his party to officially recognize Palestine.
In a rare move during summer recess, Starmer has convened his cabinet to discuss how best to increase humanitarian aid for Gaza.
The day before, on Monday in Scotland, Starmer met with President Trump where they discussed the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza amid what Starmer described as a “shameful” humanitarian crisis.
