Dutch Parliament Holds Emergency Session on Gaza
The English section of webangah News Agency quoted Mehr News Agency, citing Al Mayadeen network and the Israeli newspaper Maariv, reporting that the Dutch parliament canceled its summer recess to hold an emergency session addressing the ongoing situation in gaza.
Meanwhile, Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp referred to recent remarks by extremist Israeli officials, stating: “we have heard [Finance Minister Bezalel] Smotrich and [Internal Security Minister Itamar] Ben-Gvir speak openly about ethnic cleansing in Gaza. They oppose any efforts to alleviate the suffering of the people there.”
This stance from the netherlands came one day after it summoned Mody Ephraim,Israel’s ambassador to The Hague.
The summons followed repeated statements by Ben-Gvir and Smotrich calling for expanded illegal settlement activity and inciting violence against Palestinians, including demands for forced displacement from the Gaza Strip.
In response to Amsterdam’s move, Israel’s Foreign Minister Gad Elbaz summoned the Dutch ambassador in Tel Aviv for a formal reprimand.
