Which Countries Are Moving to Recognize the State of Palestine?

Several⁣ countries, including some European nations, have declared their readiness to recognize the State of Palestine at the upcoming United Nations​ General Assembly session scheduled for ​September.

According to ⁣the English service of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Today, several countries-some from Europe-expressed⁢ their readiness to recognize the State of Palestine during a conference on Palestine co-chaired‍ by France and Saudi Arabia in New York. This recognition is expected at the next UN General Assembly session in September.

The joint statement by⁣ these countries’ foreign​ ministers described recognizing Palestine as a crucial ⁣step toward‍ achieving a two-state solution. They also urged other ​nations that have yet‌ to recognize palestine to join this effort.

Among them, nine⁢ countries-Australia, Canada, Finland, new Zealand, Portugal, Andorra, Malta, San Marino, and Luxembourg-announced for the first ‌time their‌ intention to officially recognize Palestine. Others like Iceland,Ireland,and ‌Spain reaffirmed their commitment as they had ​previously recognized Palestine.

Malta’s Prime Minister Robert Abela issued a separate statement confirming his contry’s formal recognition of Palestine.He emphasized Malta’s commitment to supporting an inclusive political solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Earlier declarations of willingness to recognize the State⁤ of Palestine came ​from France and the United Kingdom.
