Baghdad Welcomes Decision by Some Countries to Recognize Palestine
The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed support for the decision by some countries to recognize the State of Palestine, according to the English section of webangah News Agency citing Mehr News Agency and Iraq’s WAA news agency.
The ministry issued a statement welcoming the intentions announced by a number of amiable countries to grant formal recognition to Palestine.
According to the statement, France, Canada, Malta, the United Kingdom, and Portugal are among those leading this initiative. These countries have declared their plans to take official steps during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly session in September.
The Iraqi Foreign Ministry emphasized that such actions represent significant international support for achieving justice for the Palestinian peopel. They also pave the way for establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
