US Official: Devastating Sanctions Against Russia to Take Effect Next Week
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency, Matthew Whitaker, the U.S. ambassador to NATO, told Newsmax that President Donald Trump will impose devastating sanctions on russia on August 8.
He also claimed that “Russia has no friends or trading partners.”
the official stated these sanctions would have significant impacts on China, India, and Brazil, all major buyers of Russian oil.
Earlier, President Trump said that nonetheless of how these sanctions effect Russia, he would implement them after a 10-day deadline for ending the war in Ukraine expires.
Trump said: “We are going to impose sanctions. I don’t know if these sanctions will hurt him [Vladimir Putin]. They know about these sanctions. I understand sanctions and tariffs better than anyone else. I don’t know if they will have any effect or not, but we intend to do it.”
He added: “But this is a war that shoudl never have happened. If I were president,this war wouldn’t have started. This is Biden’s war – a foolish war we should never have entered.”
last monday, the U.S. president expressed frustration with Russia and the progress toward a peace agreement and shortened the deadline to 10-12 days. John kelly, acting U.S. representative at the United Nations, said Trump believes Russia and ukraine must reach a peace deal by August 8.
