Trump: Putin Is Tough and Knows How to Evade Sanctions
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, US president Donald Trump threatened additional sanctions on Russia if a deal with Ukraine is not achieved by the end of a 10-day deadline. Speaking to Newsmax, trump maintained his harsh rhetoric toward Russia yet admitted that economic pressure woudl likely have minimal effect on Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Trump stated,”If we don’t reach an agreement with Ukraine,we will impose sanctions.” Responding to Moscow’s ongoing attacks on Ukrainian cities, he added, “What they’re doing is nauseating.”
the US president referred directly to Putin saying he “handles sanctions very well” and knows how to evade them effectively.
When asked about a possible conversation with Putin before the August 8 deadline without providing details or clear answers, Trump claimed there are “planned meetings.”
Addressing whether his opinion of Putin has changed in recent months,Trump said: “It’s obvious he’s tough and resolute. That hasn’t changed. But I’m surprised. We had many good conversations and coudl have ended this (war), then suddenly bombs started flying! Maybe Putin wants to take over all of Ukraine.I think it would be a very tough task!”
These statements come as Trump ordered the deployment of two nuclear submarines near Russian waters yesterday. He explained that these submarines were positioned closer to Russia out of caution following perceived threats: “We had to do this for our country’s security.”
The US president also responded sharply to recent remarks from Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council.Describing Medvedev as rude and arrogant with “a loud mouth” who has made similar remarks before, Trump asserted that America must remain prepared.
Earlier on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump condemned Medvedev’s tone as “stupid and provocative” while announcing orders for deploying two nuclear submarines in an appropriate area in response to Medvedev’s comments online. He cautioned that “words matter greatly and can often bring unintended consequences.”
The escalating online dispute began after Trump labeled the former Russian president a “failed leader” warning him “to watch his words.” In retaliation, Medvedev warned Trump about provoking Moscow too much by referencing the Soviet-era dead hand system-a fail-safe mechanism designed automatically to launch nuclear missiles if Russian leadership were destroyed-which reportedly remains active in Russia today.
Medvedev wrote: “regarding (Trump’s) comments about ‘dead’ economies like India and Russia entering ‘very risky territory,’ let me remind him of his favourite zombie movies-and warn him how dangerous the ‘Dead hand’ legend can be.”
