Malnutrition Strikes 17,000 Children in Gaza
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr news Agency, Mohammed Abu Afash, director of the Medical Relief Organization in Gaza, told Al Jazeera that over 17,000 children in the Gaza strip suffer from acute malnutrition. He said this places immense strain on the region’s collapsing healthcare system.
He emphasized that only a minimal share of humanitarian aid reaches civilians. Many supplies are reportedly stolen by armed and organized groups.
The medical official added that essential medicines like insulin for diabetic patients are not being delivered. Pregnant women face severe shortages of food and medication, putting thousands of mothers and fetuses at serious risk.
This comes as Steve Witkoff, special envoy to president biden, claimed just hours earlier that what is occurring in Gaza is a food shortage-not hunger.
