Turkish Newspaper Responds to Trump’s Nuclear Claim
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Al-Youm, international legal experts speaking with the newspaper Türkiye stressed that the United States must obtain Turkey’s permission before deploying nuclear submarines in the Black Sea.
they added that under the 1936 Montreux Convention, Washington is required to secure Turkey’s approval prior to positioning these submarines.
The New York Times previously reported that Donald Trump’s claim regarding movements of nuclear submarines could not be verified. The process remains one of Pentagon’s most classified matters, making it effectively impossible to confirm whether Trump actually ordered such deployments.
Recently, US President Donald Trump stated he had ordered two nuclear submarines positioned in strategic locations in response to provocative remarks by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council.
Trump wrote on social media: “tell Medvedev to watch his words. He is entering a very risky territory!”
Dmitry Medvedev, former president and current deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, recently responded to Trump’s ultimatum demanding an immediate ceasefire and peace agreement with Ukraine by warning that Trump was entering a “final game” and war with Russia through his statements and actions.
