Office of Ayatollah Sistani Urges Against Using His Images in Public Places
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News agency and Sumeria, the Office of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid ali al-Sistani, Iraq’s highest Shia authority, issued a statement today, Sunday, objecting to the display of his images along the routes used by Hussaini pilgrims. The statement specifically criticized political groups and service providers who have placed such images publicly.
The statement noted that certain political and service organizations have been placing Ayatollah al-Sistani’s portraits in public spaces, especially along the walking paths leading to Hussaini pilgrimage sites.
It emphasized: “We reiterate our opposition to these actions and call on all parties to refrain from them. Relevant authorities should take appropriate measures regarding this matter.”
