Amid Sharp Divisions, Tel Aviv War Cabinet Holds Crucial Meeting
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency adn Russia Today, Israel’s war cabinet is scheduled to convene on Tuesday to finalize decisions about the future course of the Gaza conflict. This comes amid deep political and military divisions within Tel Aviv regarding the war in Gaza.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to present three options to cabinet members: full occupation of Gaza City and central refugee camps along with evacuation of southern Gaza strip areas; siege of these regions combined with operations against Hamas without a large-scale ground invasion; or continuing the current situation unchanged.
No decisions have been made on these options over recent months. Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has repeatedly warned about soldier fatigue, declining morale, and inadequate manpower among Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip.
Closed-door meetings have also raised concerns that a major ground offensive could lead to casualties among Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
