Hezbollah and Amal Ministers Walk Out of Lebanon Cabinet Meeting
The Lebanese government has tasked the national army with developing a plan to “limit weapons,” according to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Al-Manar via mehr News Agency.
On Tuesday evening, Lebanon’s cabinet convened at the Presidential Palace to discuss several issues, including the question of resistance weapons.
An Al-Manar correspondent reported that discussions on this topic lasted over three hours. During this time, sources indicated that negotiations were proceeding positively and that a final decision would likely be postponed.
However,according to Al-Manar,Hezbollah Minister Rakan Nasrallah and amal Movement Minister Tamar al-Zain left the meeting in protest against Prime Minister Nawaf Salam’s insistence on making a decision regarding resistance arms without unanimous approval from all ministers.
Following the session, Nawaf Salam stated that debate over resistance weapons will resume Thursday. He also confirmed that Lebanon’s armed forces have been tasked with preparing a plan to limit weapons by August 31 at the latest, ahead of year-end implementation.
Yesterday, Hezbollah’s media wing released a video featuring audio recordings of martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, former Secretary General, alongside Sheikh Naim Qassem, current Deputy Secretary General.Both leaders discuss the significance of resistance weaponry and Lebanon’s national defense strategy in the clip.
The Lebanese government’s push for disarmament comes amid ongoing attacks by Israel against Lebanon.
