Guterres and Japanese Officials Avoid Naming Hiroshima Bombing Perpetrator
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia today, Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, omitted any reference to the United States as responsible in his message on the 80th anniversary of Hiroshima’s atomic bombing.
the message was read in Japanese by Izumi nakamitsu, his deputy, during a memorial ceremony honoring the victims of Hiroshima.
guterres wrote: “Eighty years ago, the world changed forever. In an instant, Hiroshima was turned into a sea of fire and tens of thousands lost their lives. Today we hold this memorial to honor them and share in their families’ grief.”
Notably, both Hiroshima’s mayor and Japan’s prime minister also refrained from naming those responsible for bombing Hiroshima during their speeches at this event.
The ceremony in Hiroshima saw participation from representatives of 120 countries.
