Guterres and Japanese Officials Avoid Naming Hiroshima Bombing Perpetrator

In his message commemorating the anniversary of the atomic bombing⁢ of Hiroshima, the UN ⁢Secretary-General did not mention the perpetrator, namely the United States.

According to⁣ the⁣ English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia today, Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the‍ United Nations, ‍omitted any reference to the⁤ United‍ States as responsible in his message on the 80th anniversary of Hiroshima’s atomic bombing.

the message was read in Japanese by Izumi nakamitsu, his deputy, during a memorial ceremony honoring the victims of⁢ Hiroshima.

guterres wrote: “Eighty years ago, the world changed forever. In an instant, Hiroshima ‍was turned into ​a sea of fire and tens of thousands lost their lives. Today we hold this memorial to honor them ​and share in their​ families’ grief.”

Notably, both ‌Hiroshima’s mayor and ​Japan’s prime minister also refrained from naming those responsible for bombing Hiroshima during ⁣their speeches ‌at this event.

The ceremony in Hiroshima saw participation from representatives of 120 countries.
