57% of Israelis Support Ceasefire, Gantz Criticizes War Management
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, israeli sources have pointed to the results of a recent poll conducted among Israelis about Gaza.
The survey published by the Israeli media outlet Ma’ariv revealed that 57 percent of Israelis believe an agreement should be made to release hostages in exchange for ending the war. In contrast, 30 percent support full occupation of Gaza, even if it risks the lives of hostages.
Additionally, 30 percent back the plan to blockade various areas in Gaza proposed by the Chief of General Staff, while 32 percent support Benjamin Netanyahu’s approach.
Simultaneously occurring, Benny Gantz, head of the National Unity Party and former member of Israel’s war cabinet, sharply criticized Gaza war management. He stated: “Political failures inside Israel have undermined military achievements. Israel must declare its readiness for a permanent end to the war in exchange for returning israeli hostages held in Gaza.”
Separately, Moria Esrafi, a reporter for Channel 13 Television Network in Israel, emphasized that Chief of General Staff Eyal Zamir warned during a war cabinet meeting: “It is impossible to ensure humane treatment for one million people we intend to evacuate from Gaza. If you insist on pursuing this course, you must remove hostage recovery from the list of war objectives.”
