Israeli Cabinet Approves Netanyahu’s Plan for Gaza Occupation
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Mayadeen and Mehr News Agency, the Israeli cabinet has agreed to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to occupy the city of Gaza.
Reuters, quoting Netanyahu’s office, reported that Israel intends to take full military control over the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu’s office stated that the Israeli military is preparing to take control of Gaza City. Tel Aviv seeks a non-military governance in Gaza where Hamas and the Palestinian Authority will have no role.
Gaza City, located in the northern part of the strip, is considered its largest urban center.
Barak Ravid, an Axios reporter quoting an Israeli official, said this plan includes evacuating civilians from Gaza City and initiating a ground invasion in that area.
On Thursday, during an interview with Fox News regarding whether Israel plans to control the entire coastal strip, Netanyahu claimed: “We have made our decision. We do not want to hold it. We want security around it. We do not want to administer it. We do not want a presence there as a governing authority.”
